Old homestead property on Calvert Island, inland from the head of Safety Cove which is along the eastern shoreline of Calvert Island. Calvert Island sits off the central coast of BC, about 62 miles north of Port Hardy on Vancouver Island. Most of the island is within conservancies governed by BC Parks and local First Nations, with just a handful of private properties on the entire island. The property is quite diverse in topography and features. The upper portion to the west is high ground providing views to the east over Safety Cove and across Fitz Hugh Sound towards the BC mainland and Rivers Inlet. Some remains of the old homestead can be found, such as fencing and old cedar fenceposts. The lower portion of the property is part of the valley that leads to Safety Cove and is an extensive wetland. A portion of the property was recently helicopter logged along the upper western area. There is remaining standing forest.
